Motoconcepts Suzuki’s Jeff Alessi, of Victorville, Calif., captured the first Nuclear Cowboyz® Holeshot Award of his season to begin the Supercross Class Main Event. Alessi was quickly passed by Villopoto and TwoTwo Motorsports Honda’s Chad Reed, of Dade City, Fla., respectively. JGRMX/ Toyota/Yamaha’s James Stewart, of Haines City, Fla., finished Lap 2 in second place, and on the following lap he collided with his teammate Davi Millsaps. The mishap caused Stewart and Millsaps to lose several positions.

While stalking Villopoto just prior to the halfway point, Reed suffered a horrific crash that left him unable to finish the race. On Lap 18, Villopoto’s Monster Energy Kawasaki teammate Jake Weimer, of Rupert, Idaho, traded positions with Red Bull KTM’s Ryan Dungey for second place. Weimer held him off but was passed by Dungey on the final lap. The two then traded positions several times before Dungey made the final pass and crossed the checkers in second. Weimer finished third, marking his second podium finish of the year.

“The track really broke down out there tonight, and when that happens, you have to be smart and play it safe,” said Villopoto. “It’s a bummer for Chad (Reed). I am looking forward to next weekend in Atlanta.”

Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Darryn Durham, of Butler, Pa., won the Nuclear Cowboyz Holeshot Award to start the Supercross Lites Class Main Event with Rockstar Energy Racing’s Blake Wharton, of Beaumont, Texas, on his rear wheel through the first turn. While charging after Durham, Wharton crashed before the take-off of the triple.

Rookie Justin Bogle, of Cushing, Okla., moved into second place after Wharton’s crash but was subsequently passed on Lap 3 by his teammate and defending Supercross Lites Class Champion Justin Barcia.

On Lap 6, Barcia and Durham traded places with Durham holding the lead, and on the same lap, Barcia and Bogle traded places. Barcia held down second until Lap 8, when he passed Durham and rode to victory. Red Bull KTM’s Ken Roczen, of Murrieta, Calif., passed Bogle for third place on Lap 10.

JDR/JStar/KTM’s Malcolm Stewart, of Haines City, Fla., attempted to pass Bogle but caused both riders to crash, losing valuable positions. Durham finished second and Roczen finished third.

“They didn’t make it easy on me tonight,” said Barcia. “I had a great night, and the team didn’t really have to make any major changes to the bike coming into tonight’s Main Event. I have learned a lot from the past few years, and it paid off tonight. I am going to Atlanta next weekend with the points lead.”

The 22-year-old Briton who has been grabbing attention in a range of Enduro, EnduroCross and Extreme races claimed yet another podium in what is considered one of the most grueling one day events on the calendar. He arrived at Hell’s Peak five minutes behind Jarvis but to uproarious cheers from the Italian crowd.

Johnny started the day strongly winning the five laps in the morning qualifying to take pole for the main race. He had a good start, secured the holeshot and led briefly before making a small mistake that cost him the advantage he had won at the start when he lost valuable time recovering his bike. This put him three minutes behind Jarvis, a time that Johnny managed to cut in half going into the second last lap. Then the very experienced Jarvis turned up the heat and pulled clear in the final lap.

Johnny Walker: “ It went very well this morning. I took it steady and I still won but in the night race I lost time when I crashed and the bike slipped down the slope. It’s a very long day with the five laps in the morning before the main race and the last hill is impossible to ride, you have to be pulled up by the spectators. But I’ll be back next year and I’ll be coming back to win this race.”

Other leading KTM riders like David Knight and Taddy Blazusiak hare past winners of Hell’s Gate and it is a race that Taddy describes as ‘brutal’. For the night race, only those that get to the peak within 15 minutes of the leader are considered finishers.

Starting by standing at the back of their bike, the riders held onto the rear fender and crouched in preperation of getting on their bike, starting it and reaching the top of the hill. Although a start would not be the total key in this race, Kurt Caselli was first to his electric start and made it to the top of the hill in first, with Graham Jarvis, Cody Webb, Kyle Redmond and Gary Sutherlin in tow. Destry Abbott struggled up the hill and tipped over as well as David Pearson who struggled with a handful of others….and the race had only just begun.

Jetting off into the open desert, the racers strategically chose their lines to get ahead. By mile 45, Webb was in the lead ahead of Redmond, and minutes back was Caselli, who was minutes ahead of Abbott. By mile 57, Webb still had the lead, but Jarvis was moving up. Coming over Fissure Mountain and over the crest just before the Jackhammers, Redmond was the first to peak over with Jarvis very close behind. Next through was Caselli who took off over the sand dune, but never made it over because of a seized clutch.

In the Jackhammers, Jarvis made the pass on Redmond. Between the Jackhammers and the Backdoor, the two became lost but quickly found their way back. In the end, Graham Jarvis finished the race with a time of 2:57:19 just 12 minutes ahead of Kyle Redmond who came in at 3:09:41. What made the finish so cool is the fact that both Jarvis and Redmond were on borrowed Husaberg TE 300 two-strokes and each of the bikes belonged to a different magazine! Dirt Rider loaned their Berg to Jarvis (the winner) and Dirt Bike Magazine offered their TE 300 to Redmond who put in an impressive ride. Was the race really that gnarly that the guys didn’t want to thrash their own personal ri des? Possibly. But either way, these riders showed that stock Husabergs are fine bikes and can take the beating across miles and miles of over-sized desert whoops, nasty rock gardens and the softest power-robbing sand dunes.

The first words of the winner Graham Jarvis were “It was crazy fast! fast and tough!”

Only 6 out of the 21 started riders made it to the finish.

Maar hoe zou het gaan met de grote hoeveelheden regen die er in de afgelopen maand gevallen was? Zou het een grote blubberboel zijn? Integendeel!!! Van elke rijder die bij ons in de verzorging hoorden we niets anders dan complimenten over de werkzaamheden van Motorclub Enter. Nu was het zaterdag natuurlijk prachtig weer, heel zonnig en met een heerlijke vrieskou maakten dat het prima vertoeven was, als rijder, verzorger of belangstellende.

In de E1 klasse bleek dat de 2^de plaats in de eindstand van 2011 nog geen garantie is dat deze plek dit jaar zo maar weer gehaald kan worden door Jirry van Veen. Doordat een aantal rijders geswitcht heeft van klasse en de overstap van rijders uit de N1 is er duidelijk meer concurrentie voor de podiumplaatsen. Jirry kon nog niet zijn stempel op de wedstrijd drukken en moest uiteindelijk met een 4^de plaats genoegen nemen.

Geert Snellenberg maakte en de overstap van de Yamaha 450 4T naar een TM 300 2T en van de E2 naar de E3 klasse. Na drie seizoenen op een 4takt lijkt het er op dat de overstap naar de tweetakt Geert goed is bekomen. Vorig seizoen niet het hele jaar deel genomen om het Motorsport trainer 3 diploma te halen is Geert nu van plan om het hele jaar mooie wedstrijden te rijden en zichzelf weer daarheen te rijden waar hij enkele seizoenen geleden was; top van zijn klasse met deelname aan EK en ISDE. In Enter was het begin nog stroef maar gaandeweg de wedstrijd kwam geert beter in zijn ritme en met een keurige 6^de plaats was Geert meer dan tevreden over zijn eerste optreden op de TM 300 2t in de E3 klasse.

Marvin Moes tenslotte, nu nog onze benjamin in de enduro, had met zichzelf en de mensen om hem heen, afgesproken, om dit jaar anders te beginnen dan de wijze waarop het vorig seizoen abrupt stopte toen hij tijdens de 2daagse een grote valpartij had waarbij hij volledig groggy was.

Nu proberen om weer lekker te gaan rijden, geen druk op zichzelf leggen, plezier beleven aan enduro rijden.

Verlost van alle druk etc. kon Marvin goed meekomen in de N2 klasse met als resultaat een goede 6^de plaats die in de loop van het seizoen alleen maar beter kan worden.

Marcel Hordijk doet voorlopig niet mee omdat hij zit te wachten op een operatie aan zijn knie. Misschien dat Marcel in de 2^de helft van het seizoen weer een voorzichtige start kan maken met enduro rijden.

Bob van Tulder kon vanwege stageverplichtingen niet aanwezig zijn maar zal vanaf Veldhoven vol gas geven om een plaatsje te veroveren in de (sub)top van de E2 klasse.

Chris Naafs reed niet en zal dit seizoen zijn wedstrijden uitzoeken en dan alles uit de kast rijden.

De jonge helden van ons team, Vincent Rikhof en Casper Hordijk zijn samen met Jirry en Marcel een week wezen trainen in Spanje bij MD Adventures. Voor beiden een mooie kans om ervaring op te doen.

Inmiddels is ook Casper overgestapt naar TM en zal het komend jaar veel ervaring gaan op doen op zijn TM MX85 2012. Vincent Rikhof is op dit moment druk doende om te proberen zijn (auto)rijbewijs te halen. Theorie heeft ie inmiddels gedaan en gehaald zodat de 1^ste stap op weg naar het (motor)rijbewijs is gezet.

Winning two of the night’s three SuperEnduro finals Blazusiak once again proved exactly why he is the world’s fastest indoor enduro rider, doing so in front of 10,000 spectators. The championship’s rookie sensation Britain’s Jonny Walker – KTM capped off a fantastic end to his year clinching second overall in the series by beating Sweden’s Joakim Ljunggren – Husaberg into third overall.

Knowing victory in the opening SuperEnduro final of the night would secure the world championship Blazusiak grabbed the holeshot and quickly set about building a lead. However, behind him a small crash by second placed Alex Salvini – Husqvarna caused a pile-up, which with the track blocked forced the race to be red flagged.

Following the restart Blazusiak picked up where he had left off and rode to a comfortable race win, securing the 2012 SuperEnduro title in the process. Salvini recovered well in the restart to end the opening race in second but it was behind the top two where the real battle developed. Fighting for second overall in the championship, Ljunggren finished in third, two places ahead of his rival Britain’s Jonny Walker – KTM. Walker, who struggled in qualification, eventually finished sixth after starting from the second row on the start.

With the start order reversed for the second SuperEnduro final of the night Walker capitalised on his front row start position to steal the holeshot. With a clear track ahead of him he quickly built up a six second advantage over Spain’s Alfredo Gomez – Husaberg while Blazusiak and Ljunggren struggled to work their way through the field. With three laps to run, Walker slid out entering the start straight but was able to remount just in front of Gomez.

Sensing a possible victory in front of his home crowd a rejuvenated Gomez tried all he could to make the pass but was unable to get the better of Walker, who clinched his first victory of the 2012 season. The newly crowned champion, Blazusiak, rounded out the top three while Ljunggren could do no better than sixth.
With Blazusiak already crowned world champion, the final SuperEnduro race of the night would decide who would claim the runner up position in the championship. Again Blazusiak was fastest out of the start gate with Salvini slotting into second.

Ten laps later, Blazusiak would eventually win the final race of the championship as Spain’s Ivan Cervantes – Gas Gas passed Salvini on the final lap to claim a crown pleasing second. However, behind the leading trio Walker’s fifth place result was enough for him to earn the runner up position in this year’s championship while Ljunggren’s ninth place finish would leave him third overall for the series.

Team Shenandoah Honda/Offroadchampions get feet wet at Round 1 of the
AMA/Rekluse National Enduro Series.

Sumter South Carolina is where the Honda supported Shenandoah Honda/Offroadchampions team made their debut. Rider Thad Duvall was anxious to do well and please his new managers and sponsors. Thad started test one with a solid seventh place, 39 seconds of the pace of later winner Steward Baylor. In the second section, Thad scored another 7th place, getting used to his new bike, a bike that he never raced before. Soon into the third test he started to experience some mechanical problems and had to slow down.

Unable to really fix the problem, he continue the race and made it to the finish in 18 th place in the Pro class and just missing the top 20 overall.
The team learned a lot about the bike and what needs to improve before the next round in 3 weeks (Georgia).

Er was een route uitgezet van 70km met daarin 3 prachtige proeven. 2 van de drie proeven waren redelijk lang, en hier kon dan ook het grootste tijdverschil gemaakt gaan worden. De ondergrond was de eerste ronde nog gedeeltelijk bevroren en dit maakte het op de route en proeven op sommige plaatsen verraderlijk glad. Na de eerste ronde kwam de zon erdoor en begon de bovenlaag te dooien, waarna het in de derde en de laatste halve ronde, op sommige plaatsen erg modderig werd.

Hans is dit seizoen van de E3 klasse overgestapt naar de E2 klasse, en rijd dit seizoen in het Open Nederland Kampioenschap en in het Wereldkampioenschap in dezelfde klasse.

Hans begon erg gemotiveerd aan zijn eerste proeven, en had na de eerste ronde al een redelijke voorsprong opgebouwd naar de concurrentie. Hans reed de volgende
proeven zijn eigen tempo, maakte niets mee, en kon op de meeste proeven de snelste tijd van alle klassen laten noteren.

Hans wist dan ook deze eerste ONK Enduro van 2012 zijn klasse E2 en de scratch te winnen.
De volgende wedstrijd van Hans is de ONK Enduro te Eindhoven.

TwoTwo Motorsports/Bel-Rey/Honda’s Chad Reed, of Dade City, Fla., opened the Supercross Class Main Event by winning the Nuclear Cowboyz® Holeshot with Supercross.com Honda’s Andrew Short, of Smithville, Texas, and Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Josh Hansen, of Elbert, Colo., following in second and third, respectively.

Stewart, who won in Oakland last year, made quick work of Hansen, making the pass to secure third place on the end of the opening lap. Points leader Ryan Dungey, of Belle Plaine, Minn., finished lap 1 in ninth place. On lap 2, Stewart moved around Short and set his sights on Reed. After stalking Reed relentlessly for several laps, Stewart passed him on lap nine and checked out. Stewart became the fourth different Supercross Class winner of the season. Reed finished second and Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Villopoto finished third. Reed and Dungey are now tied for first place at 85 points apiece.

“I would like to dedicate this win to my mechanic, Mark ‘Tex’ Adams, who passed away this week,” said Stewart. “I got in a rhythm out there tonight and put together a great race. I had a tough couple of races this year, and tonight I got it done.”

Rockstar Energy Racing Suzuki’s Martin Davalos, of Cairo, Ga., grabbed the Nuclear Cowboyz Holeshot with Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Dean Wilson, of Menifee, Calif., on his rear wheel as they headed out of turn 1. Tucked in behind the leaders, Tomac held down the number-three spot.

While chasing down Davalos, on lap 1, Wilson shot off the track, crashing and losing valuable positions as Tomac moved into second place. On lap 2, Davalos bobbled, which allowed Tomac to make a pass for the lead. Zach Osborne, of Chesterfield, S.C., pushed his Monster Energy Yamaha into second place on lap 6, but was passed by Rockstar Energy Racing’s Jason Anderson, of Edgewood, N.M., on lap 10. Anderson crashed one lap later, going the number-two spot to Osborne.

On lap 12, Osborne engaged on a hotly contested battle with Red Bull KTM’s Marvin Musquin, of Murrieta, Calif. Musquin made a solid pass and held on for second place with Osborne in third for the second consecutive weekend.

Tomac extended his points lead to 15 before heading back to Angel Stadium next weekend.

“This is my best season ever,” said Tomac. “Our team worked really hard to give me a great bike, and I made the most of it. I now have a nice lead going into Anaheim.”

Racing resumes next Saturday at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, Calif.

De eerste proef was uitgezet op een maïsveld en duurde zo’n 2,5 minuut. Bij de tweede proef was de start op een asfaltweg waarna de rijders het bos in gingen, gevarieerd met maïsveld. Daarnaast staken de rijders nog een aantal keren de weg over. Deze proef nam meer dan zeven minuten in beslag. De derde proef was een proef in lijn. Dit wil zeggen dat de start en finish uit elkaar liggen waardoor de rijders na de finish niet kunnen zien wat hun tijd is. In deze proef zat van alles verwerkt: maïsvelden, bos, asfalt, straat en veel zandpaden waar de snelheid enorm hoog lag. Deze proef duurde zo rond de tien minuten. De organisatie had dus een mooie enduro uitgezet en had alle droge stukken land benut om er mooie proeven op uit te zetten.

De eerste ronde verliep voor Amel’s gevoel niet helemaal naar wens. Hij had veel last van opgepompte armen en hij merkte al snel dat het verschil tussen de 250F en de 500cc wel enorm is. De motor heeft zoveel meer vermogen dat je daar je rijgedrag op aan moet passen. Toch wist hij in de eerste ronde alle drie de proeven winnend af te sluiten. Voor de tweede ronde had Amel zijn rijgedrag iets aangepast en ging minder agressief van start. Dit zorgde ervoor dat hij minder last had van opgepompte armen. In deze ronde won hij de tweede en derde proef en het rijden begon steeds beter te gaan. De proeven waren vrijwel watervrij maar de grond was behoorlijk verzadigd met water en dat zorgde voor diepe sporen. In de laatste anderhalve ronde won hij nog vier van de vijf proeven en sloot de dag als winnaar af met een voorsprong van 50 seconden op de tweede man.

Amel blikt tevreden terug op deze eerste enduro van het seizoen mede dankzij het feit dat het rijden tegen het einde van de dag steeds beter begon te gaan. Op 25 februari gaat het kampioenschap verder in Eindhoven.

Twin Air Powerflow Kit KTM 65cc

Aan de start van het nieuwe enduro seizoen 2012 op 28 januari a.s. in Enter zal ook een geheel nieuw enduro team zijn opwachting maken.

Na een aantal jaren in de schaduw van anderen in de enduro wereld te hebben meegelopen is het Michel Kapers van Kapers Motoren in Markelo gelukt om nu een eigen team op te zetten.

Kapers heeft het nu samen met de stichting EPON alles in eigen hand.

Het team gaat van start met enduro talent Joey Bak in de klasse Inters E2 op een KTM 350 EXC-F. De 19 jarige Bak uit Rijssen heeft in 2011 al laten zien mee te kunnen in deze klasse, helaas was toen door een blessure zijn seizoen vroegtijdig voorbij.

In de Nationale klasse komt het team uit met een Husqvarna merken team met als rijders, Martijn Brinks uit Enter, Michel Kapers uit Diepenheim en Henri Beverdam uit Markelo.

De offroadlicentie is verzekeringstechnisch gewoon geldig tijdens deze dagen. Dit zal worden aangemerkt door de knipjes die in de licentie gemaakt zullen worden.

Aan het einde van 2012 evalueert de KNMV de proef. Dan zal worden besloten of het initiatief in 2013 doorgang zal vinden.
